Listening to the rumblings in the conservative outback concerning immigration and asking myself if the Democratic party actually spends money on recruiting or just waits. Just waits for Republicans to send them the Hispanic vote. Just waits for Republicans to send them all people of color. Just waits for Republicans to send them the gay/lesbians vote. Just wait for Republicans to send them the women’s vote. etc.
People may not know much about politics but a lot of them do know they are not welcomed by todays Republican party. They become Democrats by default.

You make a good point here, although I am not a Democrat today there was a time in my life when this rule was the reason for my votes going the way they did.
Don’t understand it myself why it is that the Republican party has to be so “picky” about their followers when they don’t really have much room to argue.
For the record, I am now what you would call “independant” mainly because both of the major parties have their good & their bad points yet they won’t even try to get along unless money or favors are involved.
